  • always pack protection against rain and cold
  • sturdy boots
  • drinking water
  • sun protection
  • headgear for protection against sun and rain
  • first aid kit

Correct behaviour in the mountains

  • set off as early as possible
  • always keep to the marked trails
  • length and difficulty of the hike must be adapted to age and ability
  • turn back if the weather suddenly changes
  • take your rubbish home with you
  • keep your dog on a lead
  • if you open a cattle gate, close it behind you

Incorrect behaviour in the mountains

  • dislodging stones or rocks
  • careless scrambling
  • startling tame or wild animals
  • pulling up plants

Dealing with a mountain accident

What’s the correct procedure?
- keep calm and think before you act.
- administer first aid
- make an emergency call
- remove the injured person from danger as and when appropriate
- keep your eye on the injured person - do not leave him/her alone
