Hopfgarten
Holidays between the historic town centre and Hoher Salve
Hopfgarten im Brixental lies at the foot of the Hohe Salve and is one of the sunniest places in the Kitzbühel Alps. The town centre with its historic core and market character dominates the townscape. In winter, direct access to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental by cable car provides convenient access to one of the largest ski areas in Austria. In summer, the mountain railway takes you up to the summit of the Hohe Salve with its sweeping panoramic views. The gondola runs from spring and into autumn. Hopfgarten serves as a starting point for hikes to the Kleine Salve, Brixen, Söll or Itter, suitable for different hiking levels. The idyllic district of Kelchsau with its unspoilt nature and rustic Alpine pastures is also a popular destination for families, long-distance hikers and active nature lovers of all ages.
Experience Hopfgarten in summer
In summer, Hopfgarten offers a wide range of opportunities to experience the mountains. From May to November, the cable car takes guests in comfort to the summit of the Hohe Salve, where they can not only enjoy the panoramic views but also attend church services in Austria's highest pilgrimage church.
The village centre is particularly lively at this time of year, with bars, restaurants and small shops. Salvenaland with its swimming lake and summer toboggan run is a popular destination for families. Traditional events characterise the summer: in June, midsummer bonfires are lit and the Dirndl and Lederhosen Days are celebrated. During the Brixental Valley Mountain Illuminations in August, numerous fireworks light up the mountain slopes. With the Mountain Experience-Card, you can not only travel to the summit of the Hohe Salve, but also use all 14 summer mountain lifts in the region to explore the adventure worlds.
