Brixen im Thale
A typical Tyrolean holiday
As the oldest village in the valley, Brixen gave Brixental Valley its name and is located on the sunny side of the valley. The valley station of the two gondolas is just a few hundred metres from the village centre and runs on both sides of the valley all year round. This allows direct access to the ski area in winter as well as to two adventure worlds from spring, summer to autumn: the RiesenWelt at Hochbrixen and Alpinolino in Westendorf. Brixen im Thale is therefore a centrally located town that offers the charm of a small Alpine village. This combination makes charming Brixen a central holiday destination for families with children, sporty groups of friends and hikers of all ages.
Experience Brixen in summer
In addition to farm shops and Tyrolean pub culture, Brixen im Tal has a leisure centre with a swimming lake and a free bus service through the Brixental Valley. The summer season lasts from May to November and features events such as the "Brixentaler Bergleuchten" in August, the village evening "S'Brixner Mittwochsfestl" and the "Brixner Sommernacht" with a concert in the square.
The cable car takes you comfortably to Hochbrixen, where numerous small huts and easy hiking trails invite you to enjoy nature. The Filzalmsee lake, which is not far from the mountain station, is an ideal starting point for alpine and themed hikes. On hot summer days, the water stations at the lake offer a welcome way to cool off. Families can discover playgrounds and stations all about giants and nature on the RiesenWelt trails. The viewing platform on the Zinsberg can be reached by cable car or on foot and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Brixental Valley, the Wilder Kaiser and the Großglockner. The Mountain Experience-Card is perfect for this - it not only serves as an admission ticket for the RiesenWelt, but also opens doors to other adventure worlds in the region. Ideal as a multi-day ticket or for anyone who wants to explore several mountains in one day.
Those who prefer to explore nature by mountain bike can take the gondola to the top and join the "Sun Trail" after a few metres in altitude. The single trail leads over tables, waves and berms back down into the valley.
