Overview Solstice
Events and evening trips for the summer solstice
Enjoy the summer solstice on the Wilder Kaiser - in a particularly convenient way! In the villages of Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll, the cable cars will take you up the mountain on the evening of the event. From there you have the best view of the blazing mountain fires. The torches are lit on the peaks from around 21:00. Sometimes there are also large fires near the top stations.
The mountain stations are the best places to see the chain of fires across on the Wilder Kaiser.
Traditional bonfires at the summer solstice
In Tyrol, the longest day of the summer is celebrated with bonfires. The flames represent the power of the sun and are said to keep away evil. In Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll, clubs light those fires on the mountain ranges every year.
