Award for expertise in climate protection

Bergbahnen Brixen has been recognised for its commitment to "emission-free mobility" as part of the klimaaktiv initiative of the Republic of Austria - specifically for the purchase of electric vehicles. Every step towards reducing CO₂ emissions counts - and Bergbahnen Brixen's contribution is a strong signal towards a sustainable future.

On 22 September 2017, Environment Minister Andrä Rupprechter personally presented the award to CEO Rudi Köck.

Sustainability has a long tradition in the SkiWelt: back in 2008, the Brixen mountain railway attracted international attention with the world's first solar-powered lift - a milestone in terms of environmentally friendly innovation.

klimaaktiv mobil is the Austrian government's climate protection initiative for the mobility sector. Its aim is to promote mobility that is kind to the environment and good for people’s health. The focus is on, amongst other things, climate-friendly mobility management, boosting cycling and walking, eco-driving, alternative propulsion technologies, the use of renewable energy in transport, and innovative public transport services. Through these measures, klimaaktiv mobil contributes to achieving the EU’s climate and energy targets and supports the implementation of the National Climate and Energy Plan (NEKP).
