Cable car hike Choralpe
- Starting point: Westendorf village center
- Route: Village center - Bichling - Underpass to Hof - SkiWeltbahn gondola - Choralpe mountain station - Choralmbahn gondola - Windautal - Village center
Route description
Your hike starts in the centre of Westendorf and first takes you through Schulgasse. From there, you continue along an idyllic meadow path to the district of Bichling. Turn left at the Schermerhof farm and pass an old bread oven, which houses a beautiful nativity scene in winter.
You then reach Bichlingerstraße, which you follow to the east - i.e. to the right - until you reach the subway in the Hof district. Leave this on the left and you will find yourself directly in front of the valley station of the Skiweltbahn cable car. The cable car takes you comfortably up to the Choralpe. Once at the top, you can relax with a cup of punch and enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding mountains.
In the same building you will find the Choralmbahn cable car, which takes you down into the Windau valley. Around 200 metres above the valley station, the Gassnerwirt is another cosy place to stop for a bite to eat. From there, walk downhill and follow the road back to the centre of Westendorf.
