Stage Going-Ellmau (Kaiserblüte)

Giant - AdventureTrail

  • Starting point: Astberg mountain railway
  • Destination: Hartkaiserbahn

Directions

The hike starts at the Astbergbahn car park. From there, the chairlift takes you up to the Astberg in a relaxed manner. After a leisurely walk around the Astbergsee lake - with impressive views of the Wilder Kaiser! - the trail leads opposite the Blattlalm and to the left past the stables of the "Astberg Pony Alm". Follow trail no. 9 in the direction of Rauher Kopf, pass under the Sonnenlift lift and then enter the forest, where rooty paths await you. At the next crossroads, stay on trail no. 9 and continue straight ahead until you reach a tarmac road at Kathi. There you will have a beautiful view of the Kitzbüheler Horn.

Follow the road past some houses on the right and then continue on a gravel path until you reach tarmac again. In a sharp left-hand bend, stay on this road for a short while. At the second junction, turn left onto the forest road (trail no. 11) in the direction of Hartkaiser.

In the forest, keep right at the next fork until you reach an alpine pasture. Walking slightly uphill, you leave the Blinzalm on your right and finally reach the Höhenangeralm. The huts along the Elferweg are not serviced. After the Höhenangeralm, the trail leads briefly through the forest. At the edge of the forest, keep left and ascend slightly. In a left-hand bend, a path branches off to the right, which you follow in a westerly direction on the 11er-Weg. At the next junction, continue right in the direction of Hartkaiser "Ellmi's Zauberwelt". Passing the Auer Hochalm, you reach a fork in the path where you turn right. Over wooden footbridges and then on a rooty forest path you reach the Botenalm. After the turnstile there, follow the forest road until you reach the Schwendteralm. Above this, continue on trail no. 11 until you reach a forest road again at the Muldenlift. Along the entire Elferweg trail, you can enjoy impressive views of the Wilder Kaiser in the midst of a varied alpine landscape.

At the next turnstile, a bench invites you to take a short break. Then continue right along the forest road towards Hartkaiser. You will pass the Eibergalm and reach a junction. From here you can make a detour to the Kummereralm in about 10 minutes. If you continue straight on, turn right at the next but one signpost onto a narrow gravel path. Once back on the forest road, turn right past the barrier in the direction of Tanzbodensee. Continue southwards along the lake in the direction of Hartkaiser. On the panoramic trail, you are once again accompanied by impressive views of the Wilder Kaiser. There is a sun terrace along the way where you can take a break. From the Hartkaiser, the Hartkaiserbahn cable car takes you back down to the valley in comfort.

Return to Going

Take the Hartkaiserbahn cable car to Ellmau. From there you can use the "Kaiserjet" bus to get back to Going. (= free for guest card holders + Bergbahn ErlebnisCard holders).
