Alpinolino - Westendorf

Searching for animal tracks and Tyrol’s longest marble run

At Alpinolino Westendorf, the Alpine Explorer’s Park on Talkaser Mountain (1,770 m), everything revolves around fun and a spirit of adventure.

Behind every rock, I discover new wonders! Whether I’m a clever fox, a nimble weasel or a curious explorer, I set off on an exciting journey between the mountains Talkaser and Choralpe. Along the trails “Himmelsteig”, “Holzwurmweg” and “Adlerhorst”, plenty of animal-themed quizzes, lots of fun and countless natural wonders are waiting for me.

One highlight is the “Spoggolino” wooden marble track – where young and old alike are sure to have a great time, as the wooden balls roll their way around the Choralpe.

Rain in the Alpinolino

The Alpenrosenbahn cable car takes me up to Alpinolino, sheltered from the wind. Short themed trails await me there (maximum walking time 1.5 hours). I can always find shelter in the inns and snack stations along the way , especially on the Holzwurmweg, which leads from the middle station into the valley. But the Himmelsteig trail at the mountain station is also completed in 1.5 hours and I can warm up at the Talkaser mountain restaurant before taking the gondola back down into the valley.

Accessibility at Alpinolino

The Alpinolino ErlebnisWelt is partly suitable for baby carriages.
A path suitable for baby carriages leads from the mountain station to the Gasthof Brechhornhaus. Families with baby carriages can also take a tour of the Alpinolino via the Fleidingalm. Back carriers for small children can be hired from the cable car or the flight school.

Brixental Valley fire pictures on the mountain “Bergleuchten” in Westendorf
The “Brixentaler Bergleuchten” is a traditional summer celebration in the villages of Kirchberg in Tirol, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten and Itter: thousands of burning torches light up the night and the surrounding mountains. When dusk falls in Brixental Valley, the spectators are treated to a blazing spectacle: on the mountain slopes of Brixental Valley, over 50,000 torches form impressive fire images, such as the music lyre, ski racers or scythe and rake of our farmers. The “Bergleuchten” enchants locals and guests every year anew, when the associations, innkeepers and institutions from Brixental attach their symbols, coats of arms and lettering to the freshly mown “natural canvases”. In the evening, the works of art are ignited and transform the valley and the mountains into a flickering starry sky. Tip: the spectacular fire pictures can also be easily seen from a car driving from Westendorf via Brixen to Kirchberg. Please note: This event only takes place in good weather!
