The summer solstice has a very long tradition in Tyrol and is an impressive natural spectacle every year. On this special night, people light fires on the mountain peaks as a symbol of the power of the sun and to protect themselves from all evil. At sunset (around 9.00 pm), the torches are lit and the flames can be seen flickering. The lights are lit in a specific order, starting with the highest peaks and then moving down to the lower ones.
