New world record on 8-seater chairlifts

Tyrol & Salzburg | On 17 March 2026, a truly exceptional ski day with fresh powder and state-of-the-art lift technology across SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental set the stage for a new world record: Oliver Kern managed to ride an impressive 22 different 8-seater chairlifts in a single day.

SkiWelt as a section of the record tour

The tour began in Hinterglemm in Salzburger Land and led via the Steinplatte near Waidring in Tyrol to SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental. There, Oliver Kern rode several 8-seater chairlifts in succession, with a perfectly timed lunch stop at the Holzalm in SkiWelt Brixen.

He then continued into the neighbouring KitzSki ski area. At 15:46, he reached his 22nd and final 8-seater chairlift, officially securing the world record. Over the course of the day, Oliver Kern used a total of 40 different lifts, covered 58.5 kilometres and conquered an impressive 16,359 vertical metres.

The supra-regional SuperSkiCard, valid across all the ski areas involved, made transitions between resorts fast and seamless.
