New SkiWeltbahn and connection to Westendorf

News | 28.11.2008

With the construction of the new 8-seater "SkiWeltbahn" gondola lift from Brixen up to the Westendorfer Choralpe, Bergbahn Brixen will close the last bottleneck in the ski network in winter 2008/09. Westendorf is now seamlessly integrated into the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental - a milestone for even more comfort and unlimited skiing fun!

The new 5.5 km long descent from the Choralpe

Since winter 2007/08, the new 5.5 km long descent from the Choralpe to Brixen with an impressive 1,020 vertical meters has been a real highlight for sporty skiers and snowboarders!

Convenient connection to the Hochbrixen valley station

A shuttle service will be set up from the end of the piste for a comfortable return to the new valley station. From the 2008/09 season, a conveyor belt and the solar-powered Sonnenlift will also provide convenient return transportation from the Brixen bathing lake area to the new valley station, which is being built on the opposite side of the Brixental main road. A modern bridge connects the new station with the existing cable car station on the sunny side.

A big step towards a mega ski network

The new connection brings the vision of a merger between the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental (91 lifts, 279 km of pistes) and the Kitzbühel ski area (55 lifts, 168 km of pistes) within reach. Together with Les Trois Vallées and the Megève-Mont-Blanc area, this makes it one of the largest interconnected ski areas in the world!
