New Choralmbahn in Westendorf

After extensive planning and a number of negotiations, a positive building permit was issued by the authorities once the construction documents had been submitted. The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Choralmbahn in Westendorf took place on July 24, 2008. The Choralmbahn replaces the Alpenrose chairlift. The valley station is located at the end of Windau slope no. 111 near the Gassnerwirt inn.


The lift route leads via a middle station (near Berggasthof Maierhof) to the mountain station on the Choralpe. This route makes it possible to get on and off (uphill) at the middle station and ensures a comfortable and fast return to the Choralpe (Kandleralm valley run to Brixen). At the same time, the new Choralmbahn lift eliminates the need to take the bus back to the Alpenrosenbahn.

In the course of the construction of the Choralmbahn, the Windau descent (no. 111) will also be improved. This means that structural measures will be taken to improve the course of the piste and the entire piste will be equipped with a snowmaking system to ensure 100% snow coverage!
