Paragliding: Austrian National Championship and Tyrolean Championship in Westendorf

paragleiter-westendorf

GFC Westendorf was awarded the contract to host the Austrian National Paragliding Championships this year.
The paragliding scene clearly feels at home in Westendorf and thus also appreciates the work of all members and helpers of the Paragliding Club Westendorf.

As part of the International AlpenrosenCup from 07 to 10 July 2022, the Tyrolean Championship will also be held at the same time as the Austrian National Championship.
The AlpenrosenCup is also one of the official FAI competitions and will be held as an international Cat.II event. The GFC Westendorf is expecting not only the best Austrian pilots but also many top pilots from Germany and other neighbouring countries, who will be able to collect important points for their national championships.

The start of the 1st competition round on the Choralpe will take place on Thursday at around 10:30am. The pilots have to complete a fixed distance flight. For this purpose, buoys will be set in the area of the Kitzbühel Alps and the neighbouring Pinzgau region as far as Zell am See using GPS coordinates. The pilots have to fly over these buoys in the specified order in the shortest possible time. The landing takes place at the landing site at the valley station of the Alpenrosen cable car in Westendorf. The flight data will be transmitted live to the portal www.livetrack24.com and can be observed in real time.

Wind conditions permitting, the GFC will select a flight route that will allow spectators to watch the pilots in the air as often and for as long as possible.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the other judging rounds are scheduled from about 10:30am. Afterwards, the award ceremony will probably take place at 16:00.

At the valley station of the Alpenrosenbahn, the GFC will provide food and drinks for its visitors as usual.
