Brixen offers the best conditions for beginners of all ages and for a holiday with children thanks to its ‘Kids SkiWelt’ practice area in Hochbrixen with the Bobo mini-club (3-4 years old) and kids’ club (from 3 years old), its own practice lift and the Aktiv kinderland with various levels of difficulty and two conveyors. Numerous broad and well-prepared pistes invite visitors to enjoy a skiing experience for all ages together while the ALPENIGLU® igloo village in Hochbrixen offers a cool lounge where snow bunnies and sun worshippers can hang out as well as exciting experiences with a fantastic ice exhibition for all the family. One particularly attractive feature are the ski depots right by the valley and mountain station of the Hochbrixen gondola – after all, who wants to drag their gear around while on holiday?
Families are in the best of hands thanks to the many easy (blue) pistes on offer in Ellmau. The new 10-seater Hartkaiserbahn gondola is particularly family-friendly: with its extra-long access point and new middle station, the new mountain railway offers comfort and greater flexibility with the option to get on and off half-way up.
New at the mountain station is the ‘Hartkaiser Adventure Eldorado’ with its own children’s restaurant, child-care facilities for young children and kids’ adventure ski school. The Ellmi's Kids Club provides child-care at the mountain station for small children from 2 years old.
The Ellmauer Kinderland alongside the Kirchbichl lift offers all-round child-care along with the Bobo Kinderland (kids’ fun park) & Bobo Kinderclub (kids’ club) at the 1st Ellmau skiing and snowboarding school.
Always a great experience for kids: Ellmi's Winter World – from this year, many of the stations in the summer adventure world are also now open in the winter season.
The Going ski school offers tailor-made instruction for mini skiers with the Pingu kids’ club (group lessons for children aged 4 – 15 years old) and a maximum of 8 children per class for child-friendly and personal lessons.
Families will appreciate the many easy blue runs, perfect for newbies and families with children. The slopes from the Foisching lift, now more easily accessible with the new Schernthann-Wildbichl ski trail, are especially popular. A fantastic new feature is the new 6-seater Schernthann chairlift with its heated seats, hoods to protect against the weather and automatic lifting platform to make sure that even the smallest skiers can get on board in complete comfort and safety.
Itter is especially suited to families with children: practising those first turns in the snow is especially easy away from the hustle and bustle of the large ski resorts. Two lifts for beginners in the valley, as well as the ski school’s own safe area for children with a “magic carpet”, all make it easy for kids and parents alike to get started on the slopes.
Families like things nice and relaxed, of course, and thanks to a number of blue runs on the mountain, Scheffau offers countless opportunities for skiing with the little ones. Even the two blue family valley descents present a real pleasure for all involved. The Aualmbahn and Osthangbahn lifts are specially designed for smaller passengers, incorporating special child locks that prevent the child from slipping during the journey. This means: stress-free skiing for mums and dads and safety for the little ones.
For many years now, the Scheffau ski school has placed a great deal of attention on childcare services, offering its very special “Kinderkaiserland” (ski adventure park) right by the top lift station. Proving a big success, the school has also developed its very own “mini carvers” – special skis that enable even the littlest of skiers to have fun making their first steps on the nursery slopes, without needing their own boots! Each year, there are new attractions and innovations for children learning to ski, ensuring their first turns in the snow are a fun and playful experience.
The Kinderland children’s facility run by the Salvenmoser ski school can be found in the valley and operates a magic carpet and conveyor. Here, in close proximity to the gondola station, the little ones get to develop a taste for winter sports while enjoying plenty of fun and games.
The winter sports centre of Söll has invested even more into their family and children’s areas over the past few years. For example, the Hexenwiese ski field in the valley is the perfect place to make those first steps in the snow and it’s free for the whole family. The “Kinderland Kornkammer” (KiKo) provides supervision for young children from 1 year of age! With two children’s adventure areas – Hexenkinderland (middle lift station) and Minikinderland (bottom station) – the Söll ski school offers children’s and age-appropriate courses and supervision for all age groups – from toddlers to teenagers. Larger kids can look forward to the Hans im Glück Parcours and Hexenwelle, with plenty of fun and experiences to be had.
Family comfort is also a top priority here: the Keat lift is completely new and boasts heated seats and weather protection hoods, as well as serviced family ski depots at the middle lift station and in the valley. Leave your ski equipment here, where it can dry and be safely looked after – carting it around with you is a thing of the past, and you won’t have to worry about losing anything between après ski bars either...
Westendorf is exceptionally family-friendly. A practise area for beginners and children is located right in the centre of the village and provides an easy gateway to the SkiWelt area, plus there are several easier slopes on the mountain. It is an excellent choice for a family winter vacation. A special highlight: the Laubkogel slope with platter lift – where the littlest skiers can feel tall and admire the mountains from above too.
