Spend your apprenticeship with us at SkiWelt Westendorf! In addition to operating, maintaining and servicing the lifts, snow groomers and snow guns, you will gain an insight into all areas of cable car operation. Check and ensure the quality of the slopes and trails, discover the inner workings of a cable car or gondola and work on 600 HP engines in our PistenBully garage.
THE TEACHING
- The apprenticeship: ropeway technician (+ electrical engineering)
- Duration: 3.5 years (if + electrical engineer then 4 years)
- Additional information: Vocational school = block school in Hallein (Salzburg)
- Salary: First year of apprenticeship at least € 1,050 gross
THE PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
- Operating, maintaining and servicing cable car systems
- Search for and rectify faults on cable cars and surface lifts
- Planning and maintaining slopes
- Calculate operating costs and recognize economic relationships
- Reading technical documents, circuit diagrams and construction drawings
- Basic knowledge of snowmaking, weather and avalanche awareness
- Option for additional training as an electrical engineer
- Communicate in a customer-oriented way

Taster day
Taster days at Bergbahnen Westendorf are as flexible as our profession itself. You contact us by phone or email and arrange your taster day. Your visit starts with a brief insight into the company followed by a tour. In winter, the area is visited on skis, in summer we are out and about on quads and pickups. After lunch together, you will have the opportunity to experience our day-to-day work at first hand. Get a taste of the work in the PistenBully garage, with the snow cannons or in slope control: it never gets boring with us.
