WOW! IT’S SO VISIONARY!
With the construction of the "SkiWeltbahn" 8-seater gondola lift in Brixen up to the Westendorfer Choralpe, Bergbahn Brixen will, from winter 2008/09, close the last gap in the ski area. This connection means that Westendorf will now be fully integrated into SkiWelt.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE WORLD
The drag lift - with the name Sonnenlift – is solar powered. The solar panels have been fitted to the south-facing side of the new valley station. By means of the energy produced, the Sonnenlift can be 100% operated by the power of the sun. Even in the case of bad weather the facility will have stored enough energy to be operated exclusively by solar power.
The new 5.5 km run (Choralpe - Brixen) has been open since winter 2007/08!
Skiers and boarders can strut their stuff on the new, long, super slope – with an altitude difference of 1,020 metres it is probably one of the most beautiful runs anywhere!
To enable snow lovers to get to the valley station with a minimum of fuss, a shuttle service has been set up from the end of the slope to the Hochbrixen valley station.
From 2008/2009 a conveyor belt and drag lift will take skiers from the end of the ski slope in the vicinity of the Brixen bathing lake directly to the new valley station.
This is being constructed on the opposite side of the road from the existing, sun-facing lift station. The two buildings will be connected by a bridge over the Brixental main road.
With the construction of the new 8-seater gondola lift, the vision of connecting SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental (91 lifts, 279km of ski slopes) with the Kitzbühel ski area (55 lifts, 168km of ski slopes) comes a step nearer. With the establishment of this connection we will now be, along with Les Trois Vallées and the Megève Mont Blanc area, one of the three largest interconnected ski areas in the world!
