Hexenwasser Hochsöll Hohe Salve - MARVEL - CONTEMPLATE - COMPREHEND

With more than 60 wet and wonderful stations, the Hexenwasser theme park, meaning Witch Water, offers a natural experience and encourages the whole family to discover and explore. In the forest, water is “carried” up from down below, witches’ ladders, magic pumps and a great deal of magic and muscle power are required so you can enjoy a refreshing dip in your own witch’s spa. The people in charge of each station make sure visitors get to see and experience the fascinating wonders of nature in a fun way - whether listening to the spherical sounds of the singing water bowls, taking your shoes off on Austria’s longest barefoot trail and experiencing nature or baking bread on a stick at the fireplace with the Söll witches. (Stations manned daily from 11am-3pm)

Don’t miss a ride on the gondola lift from Hexenwasser up to the Hohe Salve, the most scenic mountain in Tyrol, with stunning 360° views and the little Salve chapel. Other popular attractions are the oversized wind harp and 12 sundial stations, whose secrets our Hexenwasser staff will gladly let you in on.

The Hexenwasser Activity programme (21.05. - 17.10.09)
Date + TimeType of Event
The Witch’s Stone Mill
11 am – 3 pm daily
Observe forces of nature at work at the old stone mill and see for yourself how water is stronger than stone! Then be amazed by other phenomena that guarantee to impress you.
The Witch’s Hearth
11 am – 3 pm daily
The history of fire is brought to life at the witch’s hearth – as well as the history of bread. Experience how fire was made the old-fashioned way and how delicious bread was baked in the olden days using freshly ground grain, water, salt and local herbs and spices.
The Witch’s Umbrella
11 am – 3 pm daily
When chanting sounds hover above the Hohe Salve, you can be sure it is the singing water bowl at the witch’s umbrellas. To make music fill the air, wet your hands and place them on both handles of the bowl. When you rub the palms of your hands or fingers on the handles, the bowl begins to resonate. A mighty sphere of sound then begins to spread. Here, depending on the pitch, different geometric patterns appear on the surface. See, hear and feel: this game for the senses becomes a fascinating, holistic experience that excites not just the user of the singing water bowl.
The Apiary
11 am – 3 pm daily
See a real monarchy at Hexenwasser – at the apiary! Marvel at the busy bees buzzing around the hive entrances, find the guardian bee and queen bee in the display hive and listen to our staff at Hexenwasser explain how honey comes to be on your bread and why bees play a critical role in nature’s cycle.
Grinding grain, baking bread at the Stöcklalm
Every TUES / FRI / SUN – 11 am
The landlady of the Stöcklalm hut is only too happy to let you look over her shoulder while she kneads a delicious granary loaf and bakes it in the stone oven. You are welcome to bake your own bread and take it home with you too (for a small contribution towards expenses).
Schnapps distilling
Every THURS / SUN
Farmer Simon of the Koller Pasture offers you a deep insight into the old farming tradition of schnapps distilling and will tell you all about cultivating the local fruit and about the special character of the “Salve cherry” that grows around his hut on the pasture.
Life of a Woodcutter
11 am – 3 pm daily
Find out all about the life of a woodcutter at the woodcutter’s cabin and try some homemade “Holzknechtmus” (a simple but filling dish that used to be eaten by woodcutters).
