SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental invests 23 Million in Winter 2014-15

The Number 1 is even bigger: SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental now offers 280 kilometres of slopes

The Number 1 is even bigger, even more convenient and even more snow-reliable! Up to now, SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental has been Austria’s largest interconnected ski area. Yet, as of this coming winter season, a newly created slope will make the SkiWelt even bigger, with a total of 280 certified, interconnecting kilometres of ski runs, up to 85% of which will have snowmaking facilities. No other ski resort in Austria can offer this much variety!

The SkiWelt has invested no less than 23 million euros in this coming winter season. Topping the cable car company’s wish list is the new construction of the Aualm lift in the SkiWelt Scheffau. The new lift will be a system of superlatives; one of the most advanced, most technically sophisticated, most comfortable lifts in the world. A detachable 8-seater chairlift of the latest generation, incorporating all the elements needed for supremely fast transportation, unequalled comfort and the highest safety standards: conveyor belt entry, heated seats, weather hoods, self-locking restraining bars with footrests – the new lift boasts all the ingredients for a relaxed day on the slopes, especially for families and beginners. Investment sum: 10 million euros.

A completely new, particularly attractive slope, equipped with snowmaking facilities, is being created in the SkiWelt Brixen area: From the Holzalm at 1,440 m, the new run covers a distance of 1.2 kilometres to Gasthof Nieding (1,215m) and here joins the valley descent. Consequently, the Brixen ski slope range will be a “red run” richer, with even more scenic beauty and sporting excitement on offer.

On the subject of snow-reliability, the entire SkiWelt area continues to develop its facilities further. As of this coming winter, no less than 85% of all runs will have snowmaking, meaning that 120 km can be made winter-fit in just 3 days. New hi-tech grooming machines and lots of new snow generators – in total there are already over 1,500 snow guns available for action in the SkiWelt, if needed, to guarantee perfect slope conditions throughout the season. Once again, the cable car company is investing millions in slope quality this year. With 4 new snowcats, there are now 64 of them busy grooming all the SkiWelt slopes for you every night!

There has also been a great deal of investment in terms of convenience: SkiWelt Hopfgarten has built a car park with underground parking in close proximity to the bottom station of the cable car. From the beginning of this winter, skiers and snowboarders will find 500 parking spaces available to them here. A modern ski depot has also recently been created at the lift station. Total investment: about 8.1 million euros!

SkiWelt Söll has brought the improvement of their service facilities into the foreground as well. The “Hexenkinderland”, the unique adventure park for the littlest ski tots near the bottom lift station, will incorporate a new T-bar lift and other fun experiences. The Hexenland park is free by the way! Söll is also improving its range for adult winter sports fans. A staffed family ski depot with test centre and toboggan hire has been set up right at the Hochsöll middle lift station. In particular, skiers can look forward to the new Salomon Test Centre. Here you will find the latest models from leading ski brands available to try: from carvers, rockers and freeriders to racing styles. Then there is the new chill-out area at the test centre, which invites you to take some time out of your ski day to kick back in a lounger and relax with a few cool tunes.

If you are looking for a different kind of winter experience, the Alpeniglu village in Hochbrixen has just the attraction. This winter, the theme of the exhibition is “Noble gathering in the SkiWelt - the Kaiser Family back in the Winter Palace“: an icy, glittering world of wonder in the heart of the ski resort.

Investment has also been made in improving the mountain restaurants and ski huts in the SkiWelt: the Bergkaiser panoramic restaurant has been extended to incorporate a restaurant with table service and seating for 200 people, including a panoramic sun terrace. Investment in SkiWelt Ellmau – Going: 1.2 million euros. In addition, the sun terrace at Berggasthof Brandstadl in Scheffau has also been substantially extended.
