Overview Brixentaler Bergleuchten

Events and evening trips

Every year in summer, when it gets dark, more than 50,000 torches are lit on the slopes above Brixen im Thale, Westendorf and Hopfgarten. The fire pictures are impressive and magically attract visitors and locals alike.

Clubs, farmers and restaurants design the pictures with great care. The motifs are created on freshly mown mountain hillsides. They show skiers, musical instruments, Tyrolean coats of arms or agricultural symbols such as scythes and rakes.

Evening operation of the mountain railways

On the evening of the event, several cable cars operate in Brixental Valley. This way you can get to the viewpoints without having to hike long distances. Ideal for families, seniors or anyone who wants to enjoy the experience in a more relaxed way.

The "Brixentaler Bergleuchten" is a traditional way of celebrating summer in the towns of Hopfgarten, Itter, Kirchberg in Tirol, Brixen im Thale and Westendorf: Thousands of burning torches light up the night and the surrounding mountains. As dusk falls, spectators are treated to a fascinating spectacle: over 50,000 torches form impressive fire images on the mountain slopes of the Brixental Valley. In the evening, these works of art are lit by local associations and transform the valley and mountains into a sparkling starry sky. At around 9.30 pm, the local clubs light their symbols.
